Once upon a time (October 21st, 2009 to be exact) I started my little Portrait Project. I’ve always been fascinated by people’s faces…even if I suck at matching them to names. So I asked you beautiful people to send me pictures – untouched, brutally honest photos – filled with all your darling details and perfect imperfections, so that I could use them as a basis for a painting.
I have a funny relationship with paint. Despite my best intentions, the medium often takes off in whatever direction it wants…and I let it. It does what it wants to, then I pretend it was all on purpose. (I have the same relationship with my hair.)
Some of these pieces are very true to the model, and some of them aren’t. That’s a misleading statement I suppose. Let me be clear, none of these people are actually green…or blue…or…oh shut up, you get it.
If you’d like to be a part of the Portrait Project, email me a well lit, focused, high res photo with super details of your foxy face. I can’t promise it will look like you in the end, but I can promise I’ll have fun doing you (that’s what she said). C’mon. All the cool kids are doing it…
