Uke, Uke, Uke

I’m still pregnant so you get another ukulele video.  This one’s for Grandpa.  I don’t have much else to say about that.

Oh wait, yes I do.  You people are adorable.  Thanks for all the love and support and emails and wall posts and tweets and…  You make my heart all squishy.

That’s my excuse for being so [...]

Memorial Day

In case you missed it, you can find my snarky Memorial Day post over at Craftastrophe.  Here, however, I’m going to skip the snark today and share a photo of one of my favorite veterans of all time, my grandpa.

Grandpa Lonon

Thanks Grandpa (and Mom, and Dad, and Uncle Johnny, and cousin Aaron, and…) for your [...]

Thank You, Thankyaverramuch

Maybe it’s just because my inner 13 year old is getting so much attention with all the New Moon talk (and because I’ve been listening to the audiobook all weekend), but I can’t stop thinking about the phrase “my entire life depends on it.”  I don’t know how many times I squealed that as a tween.  [...]

Grandpa Lonon

Earlier this week, we decided to break my grandfather out of the retirement home and take him out for lunch.  While Mom had her hair done, Dad and I drove the pussy wagon across town to kidnap grandpa.

Our search began in the dining hall.  We scanned the sea of gray haired heads for a familiar face.  Nothing.

National Poetry Day

Apparently today is National Poetry Day.  Who knew?  In celebration, I thought I’d write some haiku.  Sonnets are just far too daunting.  Limericks are fun, but they have a day all their own.  Maya Angelou eat your heart out.  (By the by, do you think she and Oprah ever get drunk and sit around writing dirty limericks?)

Even More Farm

The Crib

We poked around the old corn crib, commenting on the giant John Deere which had been reclaimed by the land.  I tried to imagine a mini Kegger tearing through the fields, stopping only to lick the “clean” areas of the cow licks.  (Yes, those would be the same areas that the cows chose to [...]

Bought the Farm

Back In the Day

I’ve been thinking quite a bit about the old Middleton farm the past several days.  I think it has a little something to do with all the fun and exciting veggies showing up at the Hoboken Farmers market.  (Note:  I suspect I incite great jealousy lugging my giant stalks of brussel sprouts [...]

Ithaca

I’m not sure how it happened exactly, but somehow the whole weekend focused on my crotch.  How many people say that after spending a weekend with their brothers?

Thom and I got in late enough Friday night that we didn’t tackle anything terribly ambitious.  Drew had already been in Ithaca a week exploring every nook and cranny [...]

This Is A Recording

While I was home in Virginia (for a whopping 18 hours) Dad offered me his old digital voice recorder that he hasn’t used in years.  How fantastic is that?  Yeah, I know!  I was pretty damn giddy, too.  I nearly careened off the road quite a few times on the trip down trying to jot down [...]

Waste Not

Projects 90

I recently visited the MoMA on one of their free Friday thingamawhatsits.  I’m all about supporting the arts in theory.  I just don’t seem to put my money where my mouth is.  It’s a recession, people.  The concrete ‘shroom biz isn’t exactly booming.

Focus, Elly.  Try again.

So I was recently at the MoMA and was [...]
